Embroidery Specialists Supporting Small Business
The Fylde Linen Service was starting to feel the strain of their ever increasing workload – that is until embroidery machine specialists Stocks offered an answer.
Responsible for approximately 3,000 uniforms The Fylde Linen Service’s sewing room looks after all orders for new and altered uniforms at all of the clinics, hospitals, and the Trinity Hospice, in the Fylde, Fleetwood and Clifton areas of Blackpool.
Stocks Sewing Machines, who deal in all types of embroidery machines, sewing machines, embroidery supplies and are the sole distributer of ZSK Industrial Embroidery machine in the UK, has provided The Fylde Linen Service with an opportunity to dramatically improve their uniform service to the NHS by reducing lead times to the end user. It has also opened up a commercial opportunity to offer the embroidery service to non-NHS clients.
Stocks provided a Brother PR-620 embroidery machine to help the linen service with their high demand. This single head embroidery machine was a particularly good choice for the NHS team as it would give them the power of a commercial embroidery machine that is also easy to use.
Dianne Morris, Sewing Room Production Manager, said: “We found that it was taking longer and longer to get uniforms back. We already do a lot of basic alterations as the uniforms come into us unhemmed and we alter to specific fitting requirements. We also put in new zips and buttons. Our sewing machines could cope with this basic sewing work but they would not be able to do embroidery. We were convinced however that if we had an embroidery machine we could do all the embroidery ourselves and cut down the lead times staff have to wait for uniforms.”
Dianne set about researching embroidery supplies on the Internet and sent off enquiries to three or four companies. The response for the machine was very quick and a demonstration with Stocks Sewing Machines was organised. Dianne was impressed with Stock’s customer service, particularly as some of the other companies didn’t come back with a response at all.
Fylde Linen Service took advantage of a demonstration by Stocks Sewing Machines, who specialise in sewing courses and the team were more than happy with the machine and the service.
Service and reliability was an important requirement for the small team as they didn’t have anyone to support the embroidery machine. “Value for money was a major factor in our decision and we had to ensure that the new embroidery machine had a manufacturer’s warranty and good support. These were both provided free of charge by Stock’s Sewing Machines and we were reassured with Stock’s Sewing Machine’s excellent support package which gives us peace of mind in the long term”, added Dianne.
